HIDDEN FACES
The 2023 Victorian Salon des Refusés
A curated selection of portraits by Victorian artists submitted for national portrait prizes and either not hung in the 'official' exhibitions or shown in Melbourne.
I had the opportunity to connect with Geraldine through a mutual friend. I was working on a series of artworks that explored the theme of joy. What better subject than to paint a comedian who shares hilarious anecdotes and observation from everyday life. I saw Geraldine perform at the Sydney Opera House in 2022, during the finale she emerged in a wetsuit surrounded by balloons. This scene was one that I wanted to recreate in a painting, Geraldine grew up in Albury NSW, so I also wanted to give a nod to a regional setting which is why I painted Geraldine in a landscape.

'Nest'
Brenda Colahan Fine Art
April 2023
Brenda Colahan Fine Art is pleased to present 'NEST' an exhibition of five bold contemporary artists working across Australia who, by brush, paint, and spirit, have interpreted the sensations and memories of shelter and belonging. In tumultuous times we often return to places of familiar safety. However, it is that same tumult that often prevents us from returning to these sites of comfort and security. Through these stunning works by Margaret Builder, Joanna Cole, Gabrielle Pool, Belinda Wilson, and Claire Yerbury we are offered an alternative, even more personal, refuge.

NEST will be on show at BCFA from 13 April to 26 April, with an opening drinks celebration on Saturday 15 April from 3pm to 6pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Collaboration with denu
September 2022
I partnered with Sarah, Director from denu Australia who has created a beautiful room mist containing lavender, eucalyptus and geranium that evokes the calmness of nature. A perfect compliment when you walk into Manyung Gallery for the exhibition 'Land of euphoria'. The exhibition allows you to be immersed in a sensory experience of sight, small and taste. The painting 'lost in lavender' is featured for a limited time on their room mist and beautiful chocolate by Monsieur Truffle.
