Distant horizon, Cathedral Ranges

Distant horizon, Cathedral Ranges Oil on linen framed in natural wood 125 x 155cm This is the largest work in the collection and focuses on the expansive view of the Cathedral Ranges.  I wanted to capture the sense of distance and openness that defines this landscape, the way the horizon stretches endlessly and the ranges sit quietly against the sky. The composition emphasises space and scale, with the rolling land leading the eye toward the mountains. It reflects the calm and clarity of this region, where the vastness of the earth meets the softness of the sky.

Whispering land - Yarra Valley

Whispering land - Yarra Valley Oil painting on linen, framed natural wood 125 x 125 cm.  Whispering Land is part of my ongoing exploration of how memory, observation, and experience shape our understanding of place. I approach the Australian landscape not just visually, but as a space to inhabit. By walking, observing, and sketching on site, I engage directly with the environment. These encounters inform the painting, capturing colours, tones, and perspectives, which I further develop in the studio, working from memory and reflection to translate experience onto canvas.

Spring unfolding- Cathedral Ranges

Spring unfolding - Cathedral Ranges Oil painting on linen framed in natural wood 125 x 125 cm  Morning light stretches across the Cathedral Ranges, soft and clear, as if the day has just begun to breathe. The hills wear the pale greens and violets of early spring, a season still tentative but full of promise. Shadows of the trees fall long and gentle, marking the quiet rhythm of the land. Above, clouds drift lazily, their edges tinged with pink and silver, echoing the freshness of the air. This is a landscape caught in transition—winter loosening its grip, spring pressing forward. The fences and winding tracks remind us of human presence, yet the vastness belongs to the earth and sky. It is a moment that feels both fleeting and eternal, a pause in time where the world seems to lean toward renewal.

A degree of beauty

A degree of beauty Watercolour and ink on 640gsm Saunders Watercolour paper,  57 x 77cm, framed behind glass in natural wood – framed size 70 x 90cm This work was created during a walk through Mitchelton Winery in Nagambie. The long row of trees caught my attention—their strong vertical forms and deep blue tones standing out against the open sky and warm earth. I wanted to capture the simplicity and structure of the scene, the way the trees framed the landscape and led the eye into the distance. The painting reflects the calm and clarity of that moment, where the geometry of nature and the quiet rhythm of the land felt balanced and beautiful.
