Biography
Melbourne contemporary artist Belinda Wilson is captivated by landscape, memory, and the subtle play of light. Growing up in regional Northeast Victoria, she developed a deep connection to place, a theme that remains central to her work. Three decades after completing a Bachelor of Fine Art, she earned a Master of Fine Art (Research) at RMIT University, a period that catalysed the ongoing evolution of her practice, which continues to engage with both the natural world and contemporary conversations around landscape painting. Her paintings capture the interplay of memory, movement, and atmosphere, reinterpreting the traditions of Australian landscape painting through a contemporary lens.
She has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally, including solo exhibitions at Brenda Colahan Fine Art (2024, 2022) and Fox Galleries (2025). Her work is held in public and private collections, including St Vincent's Private Hospital and the Australian Embassy in South Korea. Belinda has also been recognised with residencies and awards, including being awarded the inaugural Women's Artist in Residence at the Barossa Regional Gallery (2023) and the Kingston Arts Council (2024), and has been a finalist in numerous art prizes, including the Banyule Works on Paper and the Omnia Art Prize.
