Biography

Melbourne-based contemporary artist Belinda Wilson is captivated by the regional landscapes she travels through, particularly those of Northeast Victoria where she grew up. Her paintings draw together observations made on site with remembered impressions, capturing the shifting qualities of light and weather to evoke the emotional experience of being in the landscape. Her paintings acknowledge the traditions of Australian landscape painting while reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens, one attuned to movement, luminosity, and the quiet resonance of the natural world.

Belinda's artistic evolution spans three decades. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Art, she returned to postgraduate study and earned a Master of Fine Art (Research) at RMIT University, a period that deepened her inquiry into memory, perception and the poetics of the landscape.

She has exhibited widely across Australia and internationally, with recent solo exhibitions at Brenda Colahan Fine Art (2024, 2022) and Fox Galleries (2025). Her work is represented in notable public and private collections, including St Vincent's Private Hospital and the Australian Embassy in South Korea

Belinda has been recognised with residencies and awards, including the inaugural Women's Artist in Residence at the Barossa Regional Gallery (2023) and a residency with the Kingston Arts Council (2024). She has also been a finalist in several significant art prizes, among them the Fisher's Ghost Art Award (2025), Banyule Works on Paper Award (2023), and the Omnia Art Prize (2022–2024).
